Home-made vs Store-Bought

Have I lost my mind? The last time I checked, home made items had a bit more cache than your mass produced by the thousands gift, card, etc. But, it seems like almost everyone I know thinks that home made things and foods are just below their high standards. What?!?

Since when is a store bought, mass produced, generic card (not signed because it has to be bought at the last minute), so much better than a home made one? Ug!

Grumble. Grumble.

I guess I am turning into a old fogey.

Apocolypto

Apocalypto here I come! This action adventure tour de force is coming out December 8th. Set in the Classic Guatemala (but filmed in modern-day Vera Cruz), this tale recounts the story of a Mayan hero on his journey to save his lover and his way of life. Who's coming with me to see this one?!? I am buying tickets as soon as they go on sale!

Balance

I guess I am starting to get some balance into my life again, which I probably haven't had since early high school (before my first official-paying-FICA-taxes type job) when my crazy work habits started. Oh, it is sooooooo nice.

I guess this is the late summer/ early fall lull, right? When the heat of summer has broken, what else can you think about except autumn leaves and hot chocolate and the winter holidays.

I really want to buy a swinging bench to hang from our trees in the back. I already have one in mind and think we will pick it up in October. Yeah! But, Nate and I actually already hung out in the back yard drinking coffee early this morning and watching the cat run around like the crazy lady she is. Can everything just stay this way forever?

Goodnight,
may your dreams be so happy and your
Head lite with the wishes of a sandman and a night light
Be careful not to let the bedbugs
Sleep tight nestled in your cove

Can I get woo hoo?

Mailed my thesis out on Monday. This was the last major step before the defense, so it was exciting to get that done. Now, I have time to take care of some other things. Stay tuned...

Graduation Here I Come...

That's it! Can you see it? It's the light at the end of the tunnel...almost there...just a little further...

Almost Done With the Thesis

So, I actually have a full, complete draft of the thesis (appendices, table of contents and all!). It has some rough spots, but at least I have a full draft and it's very close to being a final copy. I am sending it out to my advisor this week. Hooray! We are in the home stretch, people!

Are you going to Zest Fest?

Zest Fest is a convention dedicated to those who like a little (or a lot) of spice in their lives. It starts a week from today and will be held in Fort Worth.

Check it out at www.zestfest2006.com

There is even a magazine called Chile Peppers. Who knew? Amazing. A magazine I actually want to subscribe to. Anyone who has been over for a meal with us knows about our love of hot peppers. So, consider me booked that weekend, unless you want to come along!
